Can you believe that Lila is 6 months old today?! Crazy. Well, let’s go ahead and jump right into her new stats.
You may not remember, but she was in the 40th percentile for weight at her 4 month appointment. So she dropped 15% – she gained 1oz shy of a pound in these past 2 months. When the nurse weighed her, I was nervous that this was going to be bad, especially since we had the weight issues in the beginning and I was worried about what the pediatrician was going to say. To my surprise, he said it was fine!
When we got to the topic of her weight, his first comment was “seems like she’s burning more calories. Is she moving around a lot?” Ha! Is she!! Since she’s rolling around and army crawling like a maniac (and sooner than most babies), Lila’s weight gain rate has slowed down earlier because she’s so active. So yay!
As always, doc was impressed with her development. He told us that at this age she might start sitting by herself unsupported for short periods of time and being wobbly and falling. We were like.. umm, she sits perfectly by herself for as long as she wants. Hehe Go Lila!
We talked about solids and we’re going to give Lila her first “meal” today. We go the go ahead to start with bananas, so we’ll be feeding her some later today!
